Cabo - Dia Seis

Just our small little group (Lynne, Larry, Lauren, Chad, myself, Tyler, Gabe, Jess, Liz, Beth & John - doesn't sound so small when it's all typed out now) spent the day out on the Awesome boat to do some fishing and spearfishing. Lauren caught a skip jack tuna and John speared 2 pargos. We saw some spectacular sealife again out there - a humpback whale, tons more of the jumping manna rays and dolphins that were soooo close to the boat! We were all pretty wiped out from a full day out there and just hung out at the house, ate Beth's YUMMY seviche (made from John's pargo) for dinner and played Balderdash. And oh my gosh - all of our cheeks hurt from laughing so hard! Good times!

Cabo - Day Cinco

Saturday was a lay by the beach and hang out by the pool relaxing day. We did a lot of both and were able to enjoy it even more with Tyler's really nice nap in the middle of the day. We went to Otra Vez for dinner that night and the food was AMAZING, absolutely to die for! No exaggeration. The best part of the night though was went the entertainment came out... Alex De Pue (plays the fiddle) and Miguel De Hoyos (flamenco guitar). They were awesome!! I believe you can You Tube them and watch some of the their music. So talented! I never knew a fiddle could sound so cool!

Cabo - Dia Quatro

Friday, our 4th day in Cabo, was "Donna's Day." Donna, an amazing woman and very very close friend of the family, lost her long battle to cancer last July. On Friday morning we took out the Awesome and Too Awesome, Theresa's (Donna's sister) boats, to go and spread Donna's ashes. There were about 25 people and we all celebrated Donna's life as we talked about stories and memories that we had with our inspirational friend. The flowers and ashes sinking into the water were a sight to see that I'll never forget. During the boatride, the Too Awesome came across a mama and baby humpback whale breaching. Unfortunately Chad and I were on the Awesome about 15 minutes ahead and missed the sight. When we had passed through that area you could see the whales just swimming through the water but they weren't putting on a show for our boat... We also saw manna rays, probably hundreds, jumping out of the water. It was so neat! We got back to the house Friday late afternoon and the "neighbors," Gabe & Jessica, arrived shortly after to join our trip!

Cabo - Dia Tres

SPEARFISHING!!! This was the highlight of Chad's trip! Chad got a new speargun for his birthday last month (HUGE THANK YOU to Lynne, Craig and John) and he couldn't wait to finally use it! Chad and John had a ponga that picked them up in front of the house at 6:30 so they were up SUPER early getting ready to go. Meanwhile, I was in bed praying for their safety while they were out. After a full day on the boat, Chad came home with a 32 pound Yellowtail (his favorite pelagic fish) and 12 pound rooster fish. HE WAS SOOOO EXCITED! The yellowtail fed 12 of us, 2 nights in a row, with great fish tacos.

While the guys were diving, the rest of us enjoyed time at one of the resorts nearby. Their pool is awesome and their grounds were beautiful. I guess things don't start to get busy down there until spring break time in a couple of weeks so there was like nobody there! We practically had the place to ourselves. Lynne, Lauren, Theresa and April all went horseback riding on the beach, which was one of Lauren's highlights. When they were done they met us by the pool and Lauren was a HUGE help and great auntie to Tyler. She walked him around and then took him in the pool with her. He loves her so much!! It is so cute to watch them together!

Cabo - Dia Dos

We spent the majority of the day down at the beach! The water was crystal clear and gorgeous and much warmer than our southern California waters. The house had a couple of kayaks and there was a little reef right off the shore by the house that had a ton of fish to go and look at. I was a little nervous to take Ty on the kayak but he loved it and nearly fell asleep in the 5 minutes he was on. We had more family get into town that afternoon. Lynne's cousin Liz and Aunt Marg flew in and Lynne's cousin Gary and his wife Kathy, who live part-time in La Paz, drove down as well. We all enjoyed a BIG family dinner and had a fun night with everyone!

Cabo - Dia Uno

By the time we landed in Cabo, dealt with the rental car people, and got to the house it was already late afternoon. We headed to the store to get a few things and had yummy authentic Mexican food for dinner and just let ourselves unwind from a day of travel. Not too much to report or have pictures on... just wait though... pictures are coming!!

Family Vacation - Destination: Cabo!!!

We just spent the last week, March 3-10, in Buena Vista, about 45 minutes north of Cabo and it was AMAZING!!! Thank you to the Malestic's for a wonderful Christmas gift and being able to join everyone on the vacation!


My only stress and major prayer request prior to leaving for the trip was that everything would go well flying with a 17 month old toddler that never stops moving. Well... prayers were answered - and then some!!! Tyler did great on the plane and it went better than expected. The plane was only about 1/2 full, going there and coming home. Not only that but there were about 5 or so empty rows in the back of the plane and we were the last row in front of that, if I'm making any sense. So we had a good chunk of the back of the plane entirely to ourselves. It was just over a 2 hour flight and he slept about an hour of it on both flights. On part of the flight coming home he even sat in the seat, with a buckle and just hung out for a bit. Praise the Lord!


The property was beautiful and between the 3 different houses on it we were able to accommodate 12 people. The main house had Lynne, Larry, Lauren, Beth & John. Ours had 2 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms and a kitchenette which had myself, Chad and Tyler and then Jess and Gabe joined us on the trip Friday thru Tuesday. Lastly Grandma Alice, Auntie Marg and Liz stayed in the third place. It was so neat and so beautiful! Tyler did great especially since the house wasn't too baby friendly and he was either having to hold someone's hand, be held, be pushed in his stroller or walk around but have us over his shoulder telling him "no" the entire time. There were about 40 deep, stone steps that went down to the ocean without anything to block them off... SCARY!! But yeah, overall, he was awesome!


Between all of the different cameras there are a ton of pictures so I think I'm going to break it up into days to make it a little easier :) We made some awesome family memories and I'm so glad we captured almost all of it! There was ALWAYS a camera out, haha! Enjoy!!
