Do I seriously have a sleeper?!?!...FINALLY!!

I am so excited although I'm a little scared that posting about this will completely jinx it and it'll all be over... but I'm too excited not to share.

Well first off, Tyler slept through the night last night. He has done this a handful of times (maybe 5-6) in the last 8 1/2 months but this time was different. When he's slept through the night before, it's usually when Chad and I have been on a date or somewhere and he's been at someone's house (usually grandma's) and is up late and then picked up late and put to bed late when we get home - say 10 or 11'ish. However last night we put him to bed at 7:30 (usual bedtime at our house) and he didn't wake up until 7:00 this morning!!!!! I couldn't believe it. No dreamfeed in the middle of the night, no pacifier replacement, no rocking, nothing!! AMAZING!!

Fast forward to today, just about an hour ago. I was feeding Tyler and he started looking pretty sleepy, rubbing his eyes, etc. I changed his diaper and when I put him in his crib he was wide-eyed and sat up then pulled himself up on his crib immediately. I left him in his crib in his dark room and shut the door. I had the monitor on in the living and listened to him play in there for a solid 25 minutes and then... SILENCE. Did my little boy seriously just play quietly and then put himself to sleep?!?! I can't believe it!!

Now I should be getting stuff done around my house instead of blogging... we'll see if that happens. I might dive into some homework for a new Beth Moore bible study I started this morning at Southwest. It's going to be great. I can't wait to get into it!!

Busy week!!

I'm serving as a Shepherd at Summer Spectacular all week at Southwest. My friend Emily and I are actually co-shepherding since Tyler's in the nursery and I figured I'd need to step away at least once to go and nurse. We have a great group of 3rd grade girls (one of which is Lauren, woohoo!) and we're having such a good time so far! It's so fun to just sing and dance with them, get into all of the songs and act like a kid again. I was told by one of the girls today I'm her favorite shepherd she's ever had and another girl wanted to hold my hand everywhere we went. It's so cute!! It makes the whole thing worth it knowing your changing and having an impact in these girl's lives. However I know the enemy is totally trying to stop that from happening... I started feeling a little blah on Sunday and have been taking tons of Zicam since to kick this cold or whatever is trying to creep in. I woke up this morning with a crazy ear ache - I haven't had an ear infection in YEARS! It's actually feeling okay right now though so we'll see how tonight goes. Tyler has a cough and woke up this morning with a runny nose. I didn't want to take him to the nursery and have them tell me he's too sick and can't stay so Chad stayed home with him this morning. Well now I think the runny nose is from teething so he should be able to go tomorrow. And... yes there's more... he's still got his darn ear infection. He's on his third antibiotic (yeah, no fun!) and if this round doesn't work we're being referred to an ENT.
So... cough, teething and ear infection for him... cold trying to get in and an ear infection for me... if it's not the enemy I don't know what it is!!
Anyways... we're fighting through it and we're going to have an awesome rest of the week with these kids!! Tomorrow is cowboy/cowgirl day!! I have no idea what I'm going to wear yet - I need to go and figure it out!

Swings!

Chad and I went for a walk early one morning last week while it was still cool outside (well 85 but felt cooler with a little breeze). We stopped at the little park in our complex and put Tyler in the baby swings for the first time. He loved it!! He had the biggest smile on his face and once the excitement wore off he just looked so relaxed. Too bad it's starting to get sooooo hot! I ended up clocking our walk in my car on the way to the store today and it ended up being 2.1 miles!! WOOHOO!! I need to do that more often!

So Strong

Tyler's starting to pull himself up onto things - boy are we in trouble now!! We no longer have anything on the shelf underneath our coffee table nor anything on top. No candles, remotes, etc... Our house is transforming but I love the new look. No clutter, very clean and simple and I love it. Roomba is doing a great job at keeping all the dog hair off the floor too. I love that thing! Here are a few pictures of the boy in action. He LOVES pulling himself up onto his step stool too!

On the go!

Tyler's crawling! He crawled a super long distance while he was with me at work yesterday. I don't know how many crawls, I lost count and was captivated by how cute he was!! Well he didn't do that again when we came home or much this morning but he just did it again!! It is seriously so cute! I'll try and get a video of him ASAP. Just thought I'd let ya'll know : ) Hope you're having a great day!!

Del Mar

Chad, myself and Tyler went down to Del Mar last weekend to watch Lauren in her first big horse show. We met Lynne, Larry and Lauren there on Friday night and stayed with them in a hotel through the weekend. Lauren did an awesome job coming home with (2) 3rd's, a 4th, a 5th and 6th place ribbons. Lauren's pony, Butterscotch, looked as handsome as ever with his mane braided. It was great to see her in action and how much she has improved the past few months! We look forward to the next show and watching Lauren again.

Congratulations sister - we're so proud of you!

Oh and sorry for the huge picture upload - I was very camera happy this weekend : ) I think I got some good shots though... it's all worth it!

8 MONTHS!

Tyler is 8 months old today. I cannot believe it!! Where in the world have the last 8 months gone?!?! It's crazy!!

Here's the latest and greatest of my 8 month old:
  • He's still army crawling all over the place and REALLY picking up speed.
  • He's taken 4 crawls in a row and then just plops onto his belly and armys from there.
  • He's starting to pull himself up onto things (i.e. the tub last night trying to get out - yeah not such a good idea...)
  • He's sleeping longer at night - averaging about 12 hours. He still wakes up to eat once or twice but then goes right back down... and he's also taking longer naps during the day, whoohoo!!!
  • He loves to listen to his Baby Einstein CD's. If he's ever fussy and I put it on, he just gets quiet and his eyes get really big - it's so cute!
  • He's still breastfeeding. I really love it and want it to continue but he is starting to get so distracted!! It definitely tests my patience but it's really something I want to continue for at least a couple more months.
I know there's more but I can't think off the top of my head right now.
I love my son and I'm loving every part of being a Mom!

Wednesday...

Today was the last day of Mom2Mom : ( I'm so sad it's ending for the summer but I'm so thankful and feel so blessed to have met all of the women I have the past 8 months. My table leaders and mentor moms have been amazing and it's been something I REALLY look forward to going to every Wednesday morning. I can't wait for it to start back up again in September!! In the meantime I'll be doing a Beth Moore bible study on Thursday mornings which I'm looking forward to and I hope I'll see some familiar faces there.

I just finished making a homemade chicken pot pie. It's Chad's ALL TIME favorite thing for me to make and I'm making it for neighbor Gabe's birthday dinner. Can't wait! My house smells soooo yummy!! All I've got to do later is pop it in the oven - MMMMMM!!!

Please pray for my friend Lindsey. She's 21 and has cancer and things aren't looking too good. We know that God can perform a miracle but her family could definitely use all the prayer they can get right now.

Alright well I should try and take a quick nap while Tyler's sleeping. I should clean my house, organize, pay bills, etc. etc... the list can go on and on but I'm tired!! Hopefully he'll sleep for a while but it is CRAZY windy here right now and making all kinds of noise outside...ggrrrrr....
